This is my attempt to articulate the incomprehensible. To be creative with those things the Apostle Paul described as "unspeakable" and difficult for our finite minds to wrap around.
This is my story of faith. Of struggle and transformation. Of discovery and heartache. Of learning the beauty of grace and how it makes you free to finally enjoy God and enjoy yourself forever.
Excerpt
“So…where do I go from here? After learning all this, after hearing all this…what do I do with it? I’m not sure I completely understand it all. A lot of it is still a blur to me. I’m not sure where to go from here.” Addali rests his head back against the rocking chair and reaches for his wine.
“And where is it that you’re trying to go?” Enoch sat with his chin resting on his hand. His elbow resting on the arm of the rocker. He sat still. His eyes knew Addali. He loved him.
“I just want to be so close to God. I just want to never feel distant and apart from him. I’ll do whatever. I’ll believe whatever. I just want him and his truth. That’s it!” Addali was never more honest, and he surprised himself with his transparency. He held back tears with fervor.
Enoch blinked twice. He responded, “It’s interesting to hear that you still think there’s somewhere to go. Addali, haven’t you known? There is no distance or difference between Jesus and humanity. Once Jesus became man, he has been and always will be man. Not merely a man, but, mankind. When we say Jesus, we must mean to say humanity.”
Addali looked at Enoch. He was overwhelmed at what he had just heard. He looked at Enoch, speechless.
Enoch added from his own curiosity, “I wonder what will change for you now?”
17 Flavors edition by Matthew Waldby Religion Spirituality eBooks
This book is a mixture of fiction story telling and non fiction life account. They blend together in a truly seamless way present a picture of struggling through what the Christian religion has largely become to end in a place of what a relationship with a loving God really is. Anyone who has ever thought "there must be more..." this book is one I would highly recommend to you. This book lays out so well what Good News there really is and that there is indeed so much more. Whether you are in the church, left the church, or have no interest at all in the church, I guarantee this book will provoke you to a place of higher thought, and in a way that never leaves you feeling like you are wrong to challenge such things.Product details

17 Flavors edition by Matthew Waldby Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
17 Flavors has something for everyone no matter their state of faith or lack there of. This book weaves together fiction and non-fiction in order to take the reader on a very real and very raw journey about personal struggle and coming to grips with God's love and grace. The author presents complicated and controversial concepts about faith and God, but he does so in a way that is engaging, accessible, and completely unique from many of the books out there today. I definitely recommend this book for anyone from all walks of life.
17 Flavors is an awesome combination of fiction, non fiction and theology. The story of Addeli is a great example of God's grace. The life experiences of the author show how people can trust in God to take advantage of the great sacrifice Jesus made for us all. And the biblical backgrounds are a true confirmation that God truly loves each one of us equally and is always there for us in every situation. The writer has a unique writing style that keeps you absorbed. The stories are exciting, gripping and riveting. The reader should be careful not to misunderstand the author on his non traditional way of loving and accepting Jesus as our Savior. Matt loves, lives and teaches others about our God.
Full disclosure I know the author & was witness to some of the periods described in the book. Ok, so now that I've said that, I'll say this--what Matt has done here is incredibly original and keeps the reader engaged page after page. How Matt is able to intertwine the narrative around 2 seemingly different genres (fantasy and autobiography) while at the same time progress and explain his own journey in life & faith, is simply fantastic. While we don't agree on all aspects of theology, I definitely encourage those looking for an original voice within faith writing to pick up 17 Flavors.
Love this book. An honest look at what we believe and why we believe.
Excellent book! Greatly enjoyed it!
