Now we're talking! This is a beast of a dictionary;)
Great dictionary, extremely pleased. Just wish they used "Biblical" paper such as they use in Bibles, then it would have been even better. Simple and easy to use, would like to have the extremely comprehensive 2 volume version next.
Had to update the volume that I had..it was 15 years old. Am old school....I need to FEEL the book in my hands. This is one huge tome but sometimes much more convenient than going to the web all the time.
The words are easy to read as the font style is clear. I especially like the etymology and the word is used in a sentence.
A dictionary to last a lifetime.
The "Oxford Dictionary of English" is great and a must have in my opinion. If however, you are looking for an American-English dictionary, you actually want the "New Oxford American Dictionary". The Oxford Dictionary is the only general dictionary (unless a dictionary is specific to a field such as Medical Terminology, etc.) that I allow my students to quote from in papers and speeches. I have heard that some people have had problems with the edition, which I can neither confirm or deny since I do not use , so you may want to look at some of the one star ratings in particular if you are thinking of getting the version.
